Christís Return

When where and how

It started in the first century and was finished by the first part of the second century, at the end of the Barcoba revolt. There was no more Israel or Jerusalem soon after this.

He first came to his people in Israel as a babe and shepherd and then in the Spirit at Pentecost and then in judgment on Israel.

(His arrival foretold.)

Matt 2:6 And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.

Matt 2:2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. (KJV)

(The time is tied into a first century context. "He that is born King of the Jews," Present tense.)

Some people would live to see it happen after hearing Him speak of it.

Matt 16:28 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

Mark 9:1 And he said to them, "I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God come with power."

Luke 9:27 I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God." (NIV)

(Present and past tense. He was speaking to them in present tense, to us it is now in past tense.)

Rev 1:1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must shortly take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, (NAS)

1:3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. (NAS)

1:19 "Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. (NIV

(Not 2000 years later. The NT was primarily written to people living in the first century, - some of whom had actually heard Jesus speak)

2:25 "But hold fast what you have TILL I COME. (NKJV)

3:11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

Rev 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (KJV)

22:6-7 Then he said to me, "These words are faithful and true." And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants THE THINGS WHICH MUST SHORTLY TAKE PLACE. 7 "Behold, I AM COMING QUICKLY! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book." (NKJV)

An OLD Testament Prophecy Was Sealed and A NEW Testament prophecy was not to be Sealed

Rev. 22:10 Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, because the time is near.

Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. (KJV)

22:12 "And behold, I AM COMING QUICKLY, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. (NKJV)

22:17 The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. 18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues describe in this book.

The Glorious Positive Revelation of Jesus to First Century believers via this Book, of his victorious return in judgment, has now been changed to one of Speculation and doom and gloom. Hence those same Plagues of war have been loosed on Palestine and Israel, and Terrorism has since become a threat to peace around the world. This book was given to first century believers so they could see Christ revealed in those judgments. This book is still to be a blessing for all who read it, but primarily it was for them.

Rev 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. (NIV)

(They were still looking even though in a sense it had already happened.)

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. KJV 1 John 3:2-3

Again - Remember Ė this was written to first century believers, they were to see him.

The words "now" and "we" ties it to the first century.

These words and this message must not be taken out of that context!

Now - Since Christ has returned what are we to do?

Eph 2:6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

Past tense. Raised us up. Not will raise us up. We are some of those who are living in those ages to come.

2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (NIV)

Eph 3:21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. (KJV)

Eph 3:21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (NIV)

Christís kingdom goes on and on, forever, world without end. No end to this world.

Gen 1:31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-- the sixth day. (NIV)

Ps 119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.

Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

Ps 78:69 And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.

Ps 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Ps 104:4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire: 5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. (KJV)

Eccl 1:4 One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.

(The following promise is tied to St. John three. We can see both Him and His kingdom if we have been born again. Every eye saw Him return in judgment, in a symbolic sense, for the destruction of Jerusalem was terrible and told around the world.)

Col 1:13 For He (God) delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, (NAS)

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. KJV Heb 9:28

Christians have arrived by faith and so have come to Jesus and have seen Sion - the New Jerusalem. They are the only ones to whom Christ returns or appears.

22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. KJV Heb 12:22-24

Have you seen Him? You must search Him out. You must look for Him and feel after Him.

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; 27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. KJV Acts 17:26-28

Jesus wants to make Himself known to us.

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. KJV John 14:21-23

The choice is ours, by faith.

Having God and Christ take up their abode in us is infinitely more important then standing around looking up in the sky for His return.

2000 years of our godly believing ancestry have not seen Him return like we have been taught - about how He is to return. Have they been short changed? NO!

This should create a lot of questions. Many of them have no answers that I know of.

I would think that most of those godly believers who heard Jesus speak understood what he was saying in Revelations. He said back there that those who would read it would be blessed.

How could they be blessed if they were being warned of those terrible things that were to come soon, yet they did not understand what was being said? You can rest assured they got the message and it was for them. We to can be blessed when we accept this by faith.

Note: He said the reason they would be blessed was because the time was near.

"Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near."

This necessarily means we have a job to do, and through Christ, who did overcome the world, we can do it.
